Yarman Vachha, Managing Director of YJV Consulting delivers a session on the economic aspects of running a law firm and will look at the detail of the various components of the income side of the legal business, what drives this and the impact on the business and profitability if there is a lack of financial discipline.
Yarman will also provides ideas and strategies as to how to maximise revenue and profit and provides an introduction to pricing strategies.
The programme has been developed over the last decade specifically for law firms and captures the various unique intricacies of running law firms of various sizes and sophistication.
Upon completing the session, Lawyers and support professionals of all levels will have a much better understanding of what makes a law firm “tick” commercially and the strategies that can be employed to make the law firm much more financially efficient and profitable.
Yarman has 39 years of experience in finance, accounting, management and consulting throughout Asia, Australia and the Middle East, culminating in being appointed as Regional Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer – Asia Pacific for Baker McKenzie, based in Singapore, overseeing the operations of 17 offices in the APAC region.
Yarman is a UK, HK and Australian qualified CPA and a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID), and has worked in Hong Kong and Singapore for the entirety of his career; 13 years in the accounting profession for international accounting firms (two years as a Partner of a top 10 international accounting firm), 24 years at Regional CFO and COO level in the commercial sector, predominantly in the professional services industry and is now a management consultant to the professional services industry operating globally.
Yarman is a seasoned subject matter expert in finance, business strategy, operations and governance. He has a proven combination of; commercial acumen (business management, planning, budgeting, analysis and negotiation), technical skills (reporting, control and taxation, IT, Administration, HR, Marketing, PR and change management), and team leadership across multiple cultures throughout Asia, Australia, India and the Middle East.
Upon leaving the corporate world in June 2017, Yarman focuses in consulting and advising legal and professional service firms in all aspects of governance, financial and operational efficiencies across multiple jurisdictions globally. He has recently advised a local Singapore law firm on a merger with a top 20 US law firm, including the related change management aspects of the merger. He also provides mentoring services to partners and C- suite executives regionally. He is currently engaged in a detailed strategic review of the global governance of an international professional services network spread over 100 countries.
Yarman provides a unique proposition to his clients. Having managed law firms regionally at a grassroot level for over two decades, he is a very “hands-on” person who excels in providing practical and commercial advice on improving profitability, operations and building high performing teams across cultures regionally.
