  • Difficult Conversations: Emotional Intelligence and Mindfulness (Part 2)

This is a 2-Part learning package and includes the following content:

Part One: Difficult Conversations - Let's break it down

No-one wants to have a difficult conversation. Lawyers seem to have great talent for avoiding them.  People are afraid of what might come up, too busy to prepare and do it properly or just not trained in some of the basics.  We plan and make time for so many other things in the workplace, surely it’s time to get better at this important part of staff/team management.

This session will:

  • Look at what high-performing teams to do well “Psychological Safety” and why this is the foundation to better conversations
  • Provide a proven 5 step process for preparing for and having a “difficult conversation”
  • Review use of templates/checklists to help prepare
  • Consider the “Three Levels of Conversation” and the “Three Core Identities” and how they influence our conversations
  • What’s holding us back? Why are some people “difficult”? Overcoming “fear”

Part Two: Difficult Conversations: Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence

In this session, it’s time to dig deeper and consider what is happening within the “Three Levels of Conversation” and in particular, the “Three Core Identities”.  Emotional Intelligence is the key to tapping into self-awareness and self-management to build the skills you need to handle even the toughest situation.  Blending theory with practical tips and some Mindfulness practices, this session is not one where you should come along as a passive participant. Be prepared to engage!

This session will cover:
The Three Levels of Conversation and the Three Core Identities

  • How an “attack” at the Identity level can trigger and emotional reaction
  • Self Awareness and Self Management
  • Using Mindfulness to prepare and plan for a Difficult Conversation.
  • Managing Triggers
  • Useful Mindfulness Micropractices
