In this session, the panelists each offer their unique insights into their firms’ value pricing journey; how and why they moved away from the traditional business model, the advantages and restraints of value-based pricing and how the constantly evolving legal landscape challenges them to provide a valuable client experience while also staying profitable. If you have ever thought about Value Based Pricing and if it could work for your firm then this is the session for you.
The moderator for this discussion is David Wells.
David qualified to practise as a lawyer in 1984 and in 1993, he was accredited as a specialist in commercial litigation. He became a partner of Moores in 1999 and following a management restructure in 2007, he was appointed as its first Managing Principal.
In 2012, Moores commenced its transition to universal pricing for value. It turned off timesheets in 2013. The transformation of Moores under David’s leadership was a “whole of business model” change.
After 13 years at the helm of Moores, David appointed a successor in March 2020. Later that year, he took on a new role as Chief Value Officer with Aptum, a boutique legal practice focused on resolving commercial disputes. In that role, David has the opportunity to assist the team members and clients of Aptum in developing Aptum’s business model built on pricing for value.
David is also one of three founder/directors of Innovim Group Pty Ltd, a consultancy for professional knowledge firms eager to explore “Aligned Pricing”. In recognition of David’s contribution to assisting professionals with business model transformation, he was appointed as a senior fellow of the VeraSage Institute in November 2019.
