We are seeking an experienced Practice Manager to join our rapidly growing firm as an integral member of our team. The role would suit a dynamic candidate looking to work closely with the Partners to support Elit’s evolving needs, in a law firm that cares about you as a person.

Elit Lawyers by McGirr & Snell was co-founded in October 2020 by industry leading litigators, Danielle Snell and Robert McGirr. Our practice focuses on commercial and insurance litigation, media law, wills and estates, family law and employment law. We represent a broad range of clients and are known for acting in multi-party proceedings.

About you

The role of a Practice Manager is crucial to the smooth and efficient running of our Firm. The successful candidate will be:

  • An experienced Practice Manager who is passionate about working in an environment of a NewLaw firm which is progressive in its model;
  • Proactive and able to show initiative to set strategy and achieve successful delivery of tasks to completion;
  • Organised, efficient and self-sufficient;
  • A collaborative and supportive team member in our small close-knit team environment;
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic practice;
  • Keen to develop a long-term, mutually beneficial working relationship with the firm.

Your responsibilities:

Staff Management:

  • Supervise and lead our legal support team, fostering a positive work environment and promoting cohesive teamwork and provide support as required to our lawyers and partners;
  • Conduct regular 1-1 meetings with support staff and lawyers, performance evaluations and provide feedback;
  • Handle employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions and when necessary, employee separations;
  • Design, review and implement relevant policies and best practice material;
  • Arrange monthly team lunches, birthday cakes and gifts for special milestones.

Recruitment and Hiring:

  • Collaborate with our Partners to identify staffing needs;
  • Draft job descriptions, post job openings, review resumes, and arrange and conduct interviews;
  • Manage relationships with various recruiters to assist with our hiring needs as required;
  • Onboard new hires, arrange relevant training and ensure a smooth transition.

Marketing:

  • Liase with our marketing companies to ensure the efficient and smooth running of our social media and ad campaigns;
  • Identify opportunities and make necessary arrangements for team members to engage as participants at forums, seminars, events and podcasts;
  • Collaborate with other parties on mutually beneficial projects;
  • Monitor appropriate industry award opportunities and prepare the submissions.

IT and Troubleshooting:

  • Liaise with the firm’s IT Manager to facilitate ordering of new equipment or software, discuss network infrastructure and assist team members with technical issues when required;
  • Liaise with software providers when required, including the management of software licenses and the regular audits of these;
  • Ensure the website is correct and current by regularly updating it with relevant changes and content.

Office Management:

  • Day-to-day management of our office, including ordering supplies, managing deliveries and interactions with building management;
  • Answering and redirecting incoming phone calls, liaising with clients via email and phone;
  • Ensuring all areas of the office are kept tidy and presentable at all times;
  • Welcoming clients and visitors upon arrival as the face of our office;
  • Liaising with relevant providers of services and products for the office.

Executive Assistant Tasks:

  • Provide administrative support to partners and lawyers, including managing calendars and scheduling meetings;
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence;
  • Chair monthly meetings with the Partners to discuss and address the firm’s needs;
  • Handle confidential information with discretion.

Travel and Event Booking:

  • Arrange travel when required for Elit partners and staff including booking flights, accommodations, and restaurant reservations.
  • Shortlist appropriate venues and ideas for team functions and facilitate the booking and running of these events.

What will support your success:

  • Previous experience as a legal Practice Manager;
  • High emotional quotient (EQ) and desire to manage our high preforming team authentically;
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel;
  • Experience working with well-known law firm practice management software;
  • Well-presented, professional, personable, and articulate;
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills;
  • High attention to detail;
  • A positive attitude;
  • Ability to work autonomously and work collaboratively with a small team; and
  • Self-motivated and reliable with a strong work ethic.
